Itinerary
We leave early today, picking you up from your Arusha City and heading south to the stunning Tarangire National Park. It is Tanzania's sixth largest national park. The Tarangire River, which runs through the park, inspired the park's name. During the annual dry season, the Tarangire River is the primary source of fresh water for wild animals in the Tarangire
Ecosystem. The Tarangire Ecosystem is defined by the migration of wildebeest and zebras over long distances. Thousands of animals congregate in the park during the dry season from the surrounding wet-season dispersal and calving areas. The Park is well-known for its dense
population of elephants and baobab trees. Visitors to the park during the dry season (June to November) can expect to see large herds of zebra, wildebeest, and cape buffalo. Waterbuck, giraffe, dik-dik, impala, eland, Grant's gazelle, vervet monkey, banded mongoose, and olive baboon are also common residents. When you arrive, relax at the respective accommodation while a delicious hot dinner is prepared for you
After breakfast at the campsite, we collect our picnic lunch box and depart Tarangire early in the morning for a short, pleasant drive to Lake Manyara. First and foremost, we spent the morning exploring the park's stunning landscape, looking for wildlife on the plains, in the acacia woodlands, and along the shores of the shallow alkaline lake. Lake Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions, but they're far from the only attraction: by the end of an exciting afternoon, you could easily have seen elephant, hippo, wildebeest, buffalo, and giraffe, among many other species. Pink-hued flamingos are among the 400 bird species recorded here provide a splash of colour. It's back to your respective accommodation at the end of the afternoon for some relaxation and a delicious dinner.
After breakfast, we pack our lunches and depart from Lake Manyara National Park. Our journey takes us west and north, and our exciting destination is a name that everyone knows – the Serengeti! The sheer scale of the territory and the raw beauty of the landscapes reveal
themselves along the way, and your driver-guide will assist you in spotting animals and birds. This is only a taste of what is to come, as the Serengeti is home to what is possibly the world's greatest concentration of wildlife. After a picnic lunch, you'll be eager to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site for more great wildlife-spotting opportunities. Which creature will appear next in the grasslands, savannahs, woods, and mountain scenery? The 'endless plains' are home to elephants, buffalo,
lions, leopards, cheetahs, hippopotamuses, and crocodiles... the adventure has officially begun. Late afternoon back to the respective accommodation for dinner and overnight, also to talk about the many fantastic experiences you've had today at the end of the afternoon, exhausted and exhilarated.
You have a full day of Serengeti excursions today, including morning and afternoon game drives from the camp. Seronera, the Serengeti's northernmost region, is a network of rivers that ensure consistent water supplies, attracting wildlife all year. It is here that you will have the
best chance of seeing the "Big Five": lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos, and leopards. The presence of permanent mud pools and shade attracts giraffes, impalas, warthogs, and hippos, so there will be plenty of animal sightings. Cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals are also possible sightings. When you arrive, relax at the respective accommodation while a delicious
hot dinner is prepared for you
