Itinerary
Day 1
Your adventure begins in Arusha, which serves as the gateway to Tanzania’s northern safari parks. On the first day, a professional driver-guide from The Africa Safaris Company will pick you up from your hotel or the airport. After a brief overview of your safari itinerary, you will depart for Tarangire National Park. This stunning wilderness area is renowned for its large herds of elephants and ancient baobab trees, which contribute to its unique and picturesque landscape.
Upon arrival, you will begin an exciting game drive through the park’s diverse habitats, which include open grasslands, woodlands, and the Tarangire River, the main source of water that attracts a wide concentration of wildlife. During the game drive, you may encounter elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, and many species of antelope. The park is also a paradise for bird lovers, with hundreds of bird species recorded.
In the afternoon, the safari continues with further wildlife viewing as your guide searches for animals and explains their behaviors, habitats, and the ecosystem of the park. Later in the day, you will exit the park and head to your chosen lodge or tented camp near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. There, you will enjoy dinner and a relaxing overnight stay in preparation for the adventures of the following day.
Day 2
On the second day, you’ll start with an early breakfast before traveling to the stunning Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s top wildlife destinations and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, Ngorongoro provides a unique opportunity to see a diverse array of animals in a stunning landscape.
You will descend approximately 600 meters into the crater for an exciting game drive on the crater floor. This natural sanctuary is home to an extraordinary variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalo, hyenas, hippos, and, if you’re lucky, the rare black rhino. Additionally, the crater features Lake Magadi, where flamingos and other water birds can often be seen along the shores.
While on the safari, you will take a break for a picnic lunch at a picturesque spot inside the crater. This allows you to enjoy your meal surrounded by one of Africa’s most stunning natural settings. After lunch and more opportunities for wildlife viewing, you will climb the crater walls and start your journey back to Arusha.
