OVERVIEW

WHY THIS ITINERARY?

Visiting a wild territory feels additional unique when you realize your supporting a land parcel that has been restored once again into a rich, flourishing wonderland after very neary hundred years of cultivating. Ndarakwai has gone through a change from its prime as a previous British frontier steers farm to a shelter and safe entry for elephant moving among Amboseli and Arusha National Park.

detail itinerary

A private reservation Ndarakwai has an extremely challenging and tragic fate. The First World War occurred in the hill of this zone, essentially harming the Wildlife, so even currently, going through the park, you can see the remaining parts of the trenches of those time. After freedom of Tanganyika in 1961, Ndarakwai turned into a place grazing, poaching and deforestation that nullified the population of elephants and other animals. Under the pressure of the local tribes, they were forced to leave these lands.
The area of 11 000 acres of land that could transform into a Westland, was saved basically by the act of Peter Jones who purchased the land for a private reserve in 1995. Every year, cheers to the protection and care of employees of the Reserve, populations of elephants, zebras, eland, giraffe, wildebeest, buffalo, kudu, and even a small rare gerenuk actively began to recover. Since December 2010 you can meet here even lions and cheetahs. Today the park is a home for over 70 species of mammals and 300 species of birds.
