Day Trip hadzabe (bushmen) tour
Spend the day with the Hadzabe people, ancient hunter-gatherers who live near Lake Eyasi, a beautiful soda lake in East Africa’s Great Rift Valley, and witness their unchanged, traditional way of life and harmony with the earth. Guests can engage with the Bushmen and learn about their time-honored hunting techniques, survival skills, food preparation, and cultural norms while being accompanied by a THE AFRICA SAFARI guide
This is an undeniably authentic cultural journey into rural Tanzania that reveals the untold world of these charismatic people, and it is a veritable step back in time.
Hadzabe men, one of the world’s last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes, inhabiting the scrubby bushland alone in search of food, returning home with golden honey, sweet fruit, or hearty wild game when and if available. Depending on availability, women forage in large groups for bright berries, baobab fruit, and tubers. During the rainy, wet season, sweet honey, as well as colorful fruit, tubers, and occasionally meat, is the mainstay of their diet.
This tribe of hunters and gatherers are extremely skilled, selective, and opportunistic, adapting their diets to the seasons. They can only rely on themselves to feed their families and tribe.
After a late breakfast, you’ll have the option of taking a drive around Lake Eyasi. A wide range of bird and mammal life is on display, including flamingos and penguins on occasion
