(Budget Level Irungu Safari Lodge) | Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner | Driver 3-4 hours
Get up early, eat breakfast, then drive to the Kalinzu Forest Reserve, which is close by. The forest is home to habituated Chimpanzees as well as other primates such as baboons, monkeys, and birds. You’ll spend the first half of the day tracking chimps here today. After that, head to your lodging for some rest and lunch. Following lunch, take a 2-hour boat ride on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lakes George and Edward. The sight of wildlife such as enormous hippos, elephants, and crocodiles will captivate you during the excursion. At the water’s edge, you’ll see a wide variety of birds. You can proceed a short late-afternoon game drive, return to the lodge.
Early in the morning, get up and go on a game drive in the Kasenyi plains. Look for Cape buffalos, elephant herds, lions, and leopards (though they are difficult to spot). Check out of the lodge and head to the Ishasha area in quest of tree-climbing lions. The chances of seeing these lions are about 70%, though they can be difficult to spot at times (most especially when they are down in the grassland looking for prey). The sight is spectacular and unforgettable if you find them up in the tree. Connect from Ishasha to Bwindi National Park lodging. You will do less on arrival because you have a long day ahead of you. Otherwise, just check in your accommodation and relax as you ready for your Bwindi gorilla trekking adventure the next day. (Broadbill Forest Camp-Budget Level) | Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner | Drive time: Approximately 5-6 hours
Breakfast is served before proceeding to the rangers’ post. During the journey, you will be given a briefing on the dos and don’ts. After that, you’ll begin your adventure in the Bwindi Forest. The area has a spectacular steeply forested environment and is extremely dense, however it is crisscrossed by numerous animal pathways that allow tourists access. The length of time it takes and the terrain varies depending on the actions of these massive primates. Once you’ve found a gorilla family, you’ll have an hour to spend with them. Spending time with these friendly but endangered giants is an incredible experience. Return to your lodging, check out, and make your way to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is surrounded by hills that reach a height of 2,200 to 2,478 meters, but it’s the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it truly magical – you could spend all day admiring them.
Meals at Accommodation | Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner | Drive Time: Approx. 2-3 hours.
