detail itinerary
Hello and welcome to Namibia! Your Nature Travel Namibia guide will be waiting for you in the airport’s arrivals hall, with your name written on a signboard. After loading your luggage, we’ll take a 45-minute drive to our first lodge, which is close to the airport. If we’re lucky, we’ll see our first wildlife on the way to the lodge.
Depending on your arrival time, we will go on a sundowner game drive on the neighboring Zannier Reserve. Sunset game drives reveal the nocturnal savannah’s enigmatic beauty. If we are fortunate, we will see a wide range of wildlife, including Rhinos, Elephants, Giraffes, Cheetahs, Leopards, and Ostriches, Black-backed Jackal, Warthog, and a variety of antelopes and birds.
We’ll have our first dinner together, discuss the afternoon’s sightings, and prepare for our adventure ahead!
We’ll meet for breakfast at 8 a.m. today to discuss our plans for the day. We’ll continue on to our next destination after a hearty Namibian breakfast.
We’ll make frequent stops along the way to photograph the breathtaking scenery. We’ll stop for a coffee break in the middle of the morning to take in the vast beauty of Namibia’s vista.
If time allows, we will stop in Solitaire for the “famous Apple Pie,” a true Namibian tradition that should not be missed. This journey will take approximately 4 to 5 hours, and we will arrive at our lodge near the Sesriem entrance gate in time to enjoy the beautiful sunset and drinking some drinks while we plan for tomorrow’s early start.
Sossusvlei, located in Africa’s largest conservation area (the Namib-Naukluft National Park), is possibly Namibia’s most spectacular and well-known attraction.
We’ll be up before the sun comes up to prepare for our trip to Sossusvlei. We’ll have a quick cup of coffee or tea and then wait for the park’s entrance gates to open. (At sunrise, the gates open.) We’ll drive for about 30 minutes, taking in the beauty of the rising sun over the incredible red dunes. The dunes in this area are some of the highest in the world, reaching nearly 400 meters, and provide excellent opportunities for photography in the beautiful morning and evening light. Climbing the dunes, sliding down them, or taking a brisk walk to Dead Vlei are all options for the daring. You will have plenty of time to enjoy the many highlights that encircle Sossusvlei itself We’ll take a break halfway and enjoy a picnic breakfast while admiring the scenery. We’ll return to the lodge for lunch and some free time after a full morning of activities. We’ll join the lodge for a sundowner drive in the late afternoon.
This morning, we can have a leisurely breakfast, and those who are interested can go on an early morning balloon ride (please enquire about this option).
We’ll make our way slowly to our next destination, Swakopmund. We’ll stop again along the way for a coffee break and to photograph the ever-changing landscape.
We will arrive in Swakopmund late in the afternoon and have time to settle in before gathering for sundowner drinks and dinner at one of the town’s many wonderful restaurants.
We wake up to another Namibian sunset and drink coffee as we prepare for our adventure this morning. You will be picked up after breakfast for your Living Desert Adventure.
You will return to the hotel around 13h00, and after lunch, we will travel to Walvis Bay to see the thousands of waterbirds that call the Walvis Bay Lagoon home. We will return to Swakopmund, where we will enjoy our final Namibia sunset and dinner at one of the town’s restaurants.
While in Swakopmund, you can participate in a variety of optional activities. These include scenic flights, quad-biking, fatbike tours, and horse riding, Catamaran cruises and skydiving If you are interested in any of these options, please contact us.
This morning, after a leisurely breakfast and possibly some last-minute shopping, we return to Windhoek and drop you off at Hosea Kutako International Airport for your onward flight home. Please inquire about extending your tour to Etosha National Park or the Caprivi Strip.
